Australasia's hottest jockey Scott Seamer, who's
past six months in the saddle has been nothing short of sensational, will make a return to
Melbourne to ride at Moonee Valley on Saturday. And
among his strong book of rides will be four for Lee Freedman a trainer who described the
hoop as "the best lightweight rider in the country" after a win at Sandown in
November.
It's been one hell of a ride for Seamer since winning the
Group One Caulfield Cup on the Sheila Laxon trained mare Ethereal. A win on the same
galloper in the Melbourne Cup would follow three weeks later.
Further Group One joy also came over the Melbourne Cup
Carnival when he partnered the Graeme Rogerson trained La Bella Dama to a shock win in the
Mackinnon Stakes on Derby Day.
Not content with his great Group One form in Australia,
Seamer ventured across the Tasman and rode the winners of the New Zealand Derby (Leica
Guv), Auckland Cup (Maguire) and the New Zealand Oaks (Vapour Trail).
In between the kiwi's carnival a trip to one of
his favourite tracks, the Gold Coast was in order for the Magic Millions raceday. While he
was there he took two of the three feature events of the programme (Lovely Jubly in the
2YO Classic and Play Station in the listed Gold Coast Stakes).
Among his rides for the Freedman stable at the Valley is
the rising talent Vignette. Seamer will also partner Vignette's stablemates Bunfight, Game
Hunter and the highly regarded Ugachaka.
Completing his book of rides at Moonee Valley are the
Russell Cameron trained Souplesse and the Cliff Brown trained The Concert Grand.
On Sunday Seamer will be at Flemington where he will
partner the Lee Freedman trained Our Webster in the listed Talindert Stakes, Michael
Moroney's St Therese in the listed Chester Manifold Stakes and Freedman's Joie in the
listed Kensington Stakes.
