Not surprisingly leading international trainer
Graeme Rogerson, the man who put the polish of Grand Archway, has purchased her first
foal, a Zabeel colt during today's second session of the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale
at Karaka. Offered by Eric Watson's Westbury
Stud, the colt was knocked down to Rogerson for $410,000.
It is believed that Rogerson will form a syndicate of stable
clients to race the colt and that syndicate could possibly include Watson, the man who
successfully raced Grand Archway.
Voted the Champion Three-Year-Old and Champion
Australian Female Racehorse of 1999, Grand Archway won the Group One Oaks in both Sydney
and Melbourne. She also finished runner-up to Episode in both the South Australian and
Australian Oaks in Adelaide.
The bay colt was her first foal since she was retired to
stud. She has another Zabeel colt at foot now and is currently in foal to the exciting
shuttle stallion Elnadim.
Elnadim, a son of Danzig, stood at Westbury Stud during the
most recent breeding season.
The Zabeel-Grand Archway colt is currently the sale topper
during the middle stages of the second session.
