Last season's revelation of the saddle, Scott
Seamer, makes a welcomed return to the saddle on Saturday to partner one of the country's
hottest juveniles Calaway Gal in the San Domenico Stakes in Sydney. Seamer has not ridden since suffering serious injuries in a
terrifying fall in Hong Kong a little over three months ago.
In the fall Seamer was knocked unconscious for nearly an
hour and suffered crushed vertebrae.
The Ballina based hoop who won the New Zealand Derby,
Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, Golden Slipper, Magic Millions Classic, New Zealand Oaks and
Mackinnon Stakes last season just to name a few, has been working on his fitness in recent
times to prepare for the return.
Seamer has reported he should suffer no problems with his
weight as he had not allowed it (his weight) to balloon during his absence. He is
understood to have only put on one kilogram (to 54kg) during his enfored lay off.
Among Seamer's mounts for the remainder of the nine event
card are Winona and Cosmic Rays.
The San Domenico Stakes tomorrow is shaping as a real match
race between two Queenslanders and a Novacastrian. Calaway Gal, Star of Florida and
Eastwest Success dominate the market in the Group Two feature.
