Former brilliant jockey Simon Marshall has made a fairytale comeback
to the saddle when Remabay scored a narrow win in the Bruce Lynton BMW Mini Garage Colts
and Geldings Maiden Handicap (1400m) on the Gold Coast. Marshall, who turned his hand to the media while out of the saddle, picked up
three mounts at the Gold Coast meeting today in his comeback.
Quite fitting the winner was trained by Gerald Ryan, the
leading local based jockey who had taken Marshall in under his wings in his attempt at a
return to the saddle.
Linked in the past with former champions including Hareeba
and Durbridge, Marshall was regarded in his prime as one of the best in the country.
Marshall's hopes of extending his winning list to more than
one rest with Counter Agent in race six and Pimpala Warrior in race seven.
