The late Theo Green has been recognised for his outstanding career in the
racing industry, especially with his record of producing leading apprentices, by being
inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in Melbourne tonight.
Theo Green was renowned as a master trainer of apprentice jockeys,
moulding raw teenagers into highly professional sportsmen and outstanding ambassadors for
their industry.
His major success stories included Ron Quinton, Darren Beadman and
Malcolm Johnston who all won multiple Sydney Jockeys' Premierships as well as many of
Australia's biggest races.
The Theo Green Medal is awarded annually to Sydney's champion
apprentice jockey.
