Champion stayer Rising Fast, the only horse to complete a unique Spring
Carnival treble, has been tonight inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in
Melbourne.
Rising Fast was one of the greatest
gallopers ever to grace the Australian turf.
In 1954, he became the only horse to win
the Caulfield Cup/Cox Plate/Melbourne Cup treble in the one year.
During that period, Rising Fast won seven
successive races including five Group 1s.
The following year he also won the
Caulfield Cup and was an unlucky second in the Melbourne Cup.
