Lee Freedman's
lead in the Melbourne training premiership is again under threat after the John Hawkes
stable had a winner at Sandown today. Eulalie led
throughout for Darren Gauci to halve Freedman's previous two win lead in the title. The
gelding proved too strong in the Gardenvale Handicap (1300m).
The win also ended a small run of outs for the Hawkes camp.
The cerise carriers had endured a frustrating run out outs since a winning double on Grand
National Hurdle Day at Flemington nearly two weeks ago.
The premiership race will again continue on the weekend
with the double city meeting at Moonee Valley on Saturday and Caulfield on Sunday. Both
Freedman and Hawkes have numerous nominations over the two day period. |
