Darren Beadman's lead in the Sydney Jockey's
Premiership race has been slashed to three and a half wins after Corey Brown rode three
winners for the second consecutive time in Sydney today. Brown was in sparkling form late in the afternoon at Warwick Farm when he rode
home his three winners, the big day completed when the Nick Moraitis owned and John Hawkes
trained Coablo won the last of eight races.
The premiership race looked all but over when the comeback
hoop Beadman skipped well clear of Brown, but Beadman's hot run was stopped when he was
outed by stewards for careless riding.
With Beadman out of the saddle Brown has made his charge.
On Saturday he rode three winners at Rosehill and he matched that effort at the Farm
today.
As well as his three winners Brown was runner-up in two
other races on the card.
His winners came thanks to Rangehill for John O'Shea in the
fifth, Conzeal for Paul Perry in the sixth and Coablo for John Hawkes in the last.
Beadman is not able to be back in the saddle until next
Wednesday, by that time his lead could have all but been absorbed and could set up an
incredible final two weeks of the season.
And adding further spice to the premiership race Brown has
announced he will skip the lucrative Grafton Cup Carnival to concentrate on winning the
Sydney premiership.
There are metropolitan meetings in Sydney on Saturday and
Sunday this weekend, giving Brown up to 16 chances to make the race even more interesting!
