Former Sydney based filly Stylish Lass adds a great deal of interest
to an ordinary meeting at Cheltenham in Adelaide tomorrow. A Group winner for Gai Waterhouse last preparation, the daughter of Barathea is
now trained at Lindsay Park and she will be having her first start for Tony McEvoy.
Stylish Lass has not started since finishing down the track
in the listed Silk Stocking, won by her then stablemate Heritiere, in near blistering
conditions on the Gold Coast.
McEvoy is hopeful the three-year-old filly can make a
winning return to the racetrack at the Park.
"She is a lovely filly who has settled in well,"
McEvoy said.
McEvoy is hopeful the filly can hold up the form she showed
around a great bunch of Sydney gallopers at her last preparation.
"She has form around the likes of
Lonhro and Magic Albert in Sydney so it will be interesting to see how she measures up
down here," McEvoy added.
The Roman Consul Stakes (G3) winner has
never raced over more than 1400 metres in the past, but McEvoy is confident handling
longer distances should not pose a great problem.
"Her pedigree suggests she might get
over a bit of ground, so shes stepping out over the 1300m first-up and may go on
from there. She seems to like wet tracks so well race her into the winter and, if
her form warrants it, look at some of the earlier races in the spring," McEvoy added.
To date Stylish Lass has had 13 starts for
four wins, one second and two thirds with stakes earnings of nearly $150,000.
A winner first up in the past, Stylish Lass
had drawn barrier four for the Terrific at Manner Lodge Handicap (1313m). Leading jockey
Simon Price will take the ride.
Stylish Lass has been marked as a 3/1
second favourite behind the last start winner and Cheltenham specialist Ken Cheval (9/4).
