Hot on the
heels of losing the entire card at Geelong yesterday Victorian racing has been hit by
another setback. This time the Kyenton meeting was
abandoned following the third race due to poor visibility and the state of the track.
Robert Smerdon's run with hurdlers continued when
Calcavecchia edged out Waratah Special in the first race of the day, the Hahn Premium
Maiden Hurdle over 2800 metres.
In the following race the Hall family cleaned up when Jazz
Baby came in two lengths clear of the roughie Hot Idea. A colt by Gold Ace, Jazz Baby is
trained by David Hall and was ridden by Vince Hall.
The third event was captured by the Umatilla gelding Snack
Attack. The Peter Morgan trained gelding ploughed through the heavy conditions to down Le
Blac. Falknis was a distant third.
The Kyneton track was rated heavy at the start of the day
after some heavy and persistent rain over the past 48 hours. |
