| A lovely group
of two-year-olds will go head to head in the Proud Miss Handicap (1000m) at Sandown
tomorrow. Youngsters by Rory's Jester, Quest for
Fame, Spinning World, Zabeel, Danehill Dancer, Spartacus and Baryshnikov are among ten ten
        gallopers contesting the juvenile event.
Among the debut performers in the race are a son of the New
Zealand siring sensation Zabeel and a half sister to the Group One winning sprinter
        Flavour.
I Scream, a member of the Woodlands and John Hawkes camp,
is a daughter of Quest for Fame and is out of the proven producer Ice Cream Sundae.
As a broodmare Ice Cream Sundae, a daughter of Soveriegn
Red, has produced the Salinger Stakes winner Flavour, the Adelaide winner Choc Top and the
winner Sorbet. She's only had three runners on the track and they've all won.
Zucielo, a member of the Derby winning Peter Moody stable,
is a regally bred colt by Cambirdge Stud's mighty sire Zabeel.
The colt, who'll be ridden by in form apprentice Craig
Newitt tomorrow, is set to be only the second runner for his Marscay dam.
At his only public appearance Zucielo narrowly downed
Polonius in a trial at Geelong on May 31 over 1000 metres.
The Jim Conlan trained filly La Bellarina looks certain to
have her admirers as well. She is by the five time international Group One winning
champion Spinning World and is out of the Zoffany mare Cheungabella.
Cheungabella is a half sister to the South Australian Derby
winner English Wonder, who has since proven herself as the producer of SA Oaks winner
        Asia.
Danehill Dancer, a stallion who's past twelve months has
been nothing short of brilliant, is also represented in the form of Chowpie. The Bailey
trained youngster is already a city winner and seems to be able to handle all types of
        ground. |
