Talented grey
sprinter Pindi Ridge has scored a hard fought win in the feature event on the first day of
the Swan Hill Cup Carnival, the Carlton Draught/ATA Golden Topaz (1200m) this afternoon. The Arthur Pace trained gelding downed the $10 chance Geronimo Run by a mere
half head, while the third placegetter Dolphin Dance ($3.80 fav) was a half neck further
back.
A five-year-old by Toy Pindarri, Pindi Ridge ($6.50) was
ridden to victory today by underrated senior rider Brad Rawiller.
The disappointing run of the race came from the recent
Adelaide winner John's Brother. The gelding failed to beat a runner home as second
favourite at $6.
The 1200 metres of today's race was covered in a slick 1
minute 10.27 seconds.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the David Hall trained Quasi
Stellar impressed in her three length win in the 1000 metre maiden. With Aaron Spiteri in
the saddle the daughter of Catrail proved much too good for her opposition. |
