Ruby Slipper has made a successful return from surgery and continued the great
form of Sutton Grange trainer Robbie Laing when that filly scored an impressive win at
Caulfield yesterday. A daughter of Victoria's
evergreen siring sensation Rubiton, Ruby Slipper was having her first start since an
operation on both legs.
"She had three chips removed from both fetlocks after
she ran second at Moonee Valley," Laing said after the filly cruised home an easy
winner.
Laing knew his three-year-old was on track for a positive
return to the track after showing plenty in recent track work.
"Her work at home had been sensational," Laing
said. "She was very impressive easily winning a trial as well."
Despite drifting in the market on course Ruby Slipper, with
top senior hoop Noel Callow in the saddle, hit the front at the top of the home straight
and then always looked the winner.
The grey Violet Tints tried hard to bridge the gap, but
that filly could make no real impression. Zakynthos Star ran third.
Laing is predicting Ruby Slipper will pick up more races in
the near future.
"She's always shown us above average ability and she's
sure to pick up more races in the future," he added. |
