Moella has
given Mount Gambier trainer Ricky Bruhn a welcome home present with a gutsy win in the
Kapalaran Super Vobis Handicap (1600m) at Sandown today. Bruhn, the breeder and owner and also todays strapper, has spent the past
month with a daughter travelling around Queensland.
"We started off in the north of New South Wales and he
gradually worked our way up further north," Bruhn said. "I got back yesterday so
this win is a great result."
Mount Gambier, the home town of the South Australian based
trainer, yesterday wrapped up their three day Cup Carnival, a carnival in which Bruhn had
a perfect record.
"I only had the one runner over the carnival and that
was Sedonic," Bruhn said. "And he won so weve had a good run of
late."
Moella, a three-year-old filly by Regal Classic, is from
the Top Most mare Mohallah. Still owned by Bruhn, Mohallah was a multiple winner at
Sandown during her racing career.
"Her (Moella) mum won a couple of races here over 2100
metres coming right down the outside of the track," Bruhn added.
Moella, with Greg Childs in the saddle, ploughed through
todays heavy track to prove a touch too good for Champagne Miss. Franjelica, a filly
by Snippets, was third. |
