Tough Hawkesbury
galloper Mr Bureaucrat added another feature race win to his impressive race record when
he won this afternoon's dramatic Group One Doomben Cup in Brisbane. There were plenty of anxious moments for trainer Warwick Hailes and jockey
Adrian Robinson immediately after the race when the connections of the runner-up Galroof
fired in a protest for interference. The objection was subsequently dismissed after what
seemed a length hearing.
Today's Doomben Cup win was Mr Bureaucrat's third consecutive
win at Group level, but his first at Group One standard. Before today the son of
Bureaucracy had scored back to back wins in the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes and the AD
Hollindale Stakes.
A six-year-old gelding Mr Bureaucrat, who's part owned by his
loyal trainer, held off the fast finishing Galroof to win by a half length, with the handy
performer Freemason a half head away in third place.
Today was Mr Bureaucrat's 33rd start and his eleventh win.
His prize earnings have now soared over the $800,000 mark. |
