Leading Melbourne jumps jockey Willie Harnett was this afternoon suspended from
riding for a month after deliberately striking his mount in today's hurdle in the vicinity
of the head on a number of occasions.
Stewards took exception to Harnett's riding
tactics over the concluding stages deeming his actions to be "improper."
Harnett's mount Sir Cool, a $15 chance, won
the Pooley Bridge Hurdle was a half head.
The suspension will see the talented rider
out of the saddle until June 13. |
