The Neville
McBurney trained gelding Henderson Bay has scored his first win at racing's highest level
when he held on to win this afternoon's $822,860 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Randwick. A six-year-old gelding by Guns of Navarone, Henderson Bay was mid
race in the early and middle stages before jockey Darryl McLellan began to make his move.
Henderson Bay then had to fight hard to the line when last
year's winner Mr Prudent made a dive right on the line.
Now the winner of eight of his 26 starts, Henderson Bay was
a last start winner of the Group Two Chairman's Handicap at Randwick when he scored an
upset win over Homewrecker. |
