Top class sprinter North Boy is on track for his first run outside
of Australia next month after connections accepted an invitation to race in Singapore. The gelding's trainer Tony McEvoy told Cyberhorse today North Boy's
owners had accepted an invitation from Singapore officials last Friday.
McEvoy said the gelding deserved his chance to race for
international glory after consistency in high class races in Australia.
"He's at the top of his form and with his excellent
recent racing he's entitled at a shot in Singapore," McEvoy said.
"North Boy will be
having his final lead up run in Sydney on Saturday before he comes back to Melbourne and
prepare for a flight," McEvoy added.
The gelding will clash with top class sprinters Falvelon,
Excellerator, Mistegic, Scenic Peak, Spinning Hill, Fair Embrace and Century Kid in the
$351,400 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
North Boy has drawn barrier three for the weight-for-age
Group Two race over 1200 metres.
McEvoy also reported that Elegant Fashion pulled up
"sensationally" after her gallant second to Republic Lass in last weekend's
Group One Australian Oaks in Sydney.
"She's perfect. She'll have a few more days off before
heading back to Lindsay Park for a well deserved break," McEvoy added.
