Leading Melbourne jockey Nash Rawiller has been
cleared of a serious charge of deliberately hitting a horse over the head with a whip at
an appeal today. Rawiller was originally handed a two
month suspension for the charge which was slapped on him after a ride at Mornington on
March 13.
Not suprisingly Rawiller said he was relieved his name had
been cleared and he was looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
"It's obvisouly a great relief," Rawiller told
Cyberhorse.
"The whole thing has been hanging over my shoulders
for two and a half weeks now," he added.
"It was a pretty serious charge and I'm very happy
I've been cleared."
Rawiller said he was looking forward to picking up some
nice rides over the upcoming Adelaide Cup Carnival.
"All going well I would be riding (the Tony Noonan
trained) Yammer in the Adelaide Cup," Rawiller added.
The popular hoop confessed today when the original sentence
was handed out last month he was rocked.
"I was definitely shocked at the time," he
reflected. "I just couldn't believe it."
"I'm just glad it's all behind me now and I can get
back to riding."
Fans of Rawiller can look forward to seeing the hoop back
in the saddle on Monday.
