Top Adelaide
apprentice rider Ben Claridge will almost certainly miss the entire smoke-free Cup
Carnival in South Australia after breaking a collarbone on Monday morning. Claridge, who is apprenticed to leading dual state trainer Ken
Sweeney, fell from the two-year-old filly Distinct Ruby at the Morphettville trials.
The talented youngster is the leading apprentice in
Adelaide this season with 15 winners, and sits in seventh place on the city premiership
overall.
It is believed Claridge was approached to ride the Barry
Brook trained last start Onkaparinga Cup winner Oxford Dollar on Saturday. Currently the
dashing stayer is in two races - but has 63 kilos in a restricted event. |
