 Lee Freedman, who currently has his focus on
Sydney with Don Eduardo, Ugachaka and Pillaging running in feature events there on
Saturday, has sent warnings to the seasoned jumping stables when three of his team
impressed in jumping trials at Oakbank yesterday.Nautilism
was by far the most impressive of the three Freedman trained horses who were given a look
at the unique Adelaide Hills circuit during yesterday's official jumping trials.
In the first of two steeple trials Nautilism downed the
Barry Brook trained Delegate by 10 lengths, while Shamrock Dancer was a breath away in
third place.
Top jumps jockey Craig Durden, who rode the dashing jumper
Nautilism, was also aboard his hurdling stablemates Joe Bananas and Family Favourite.
Joe Bananas finished a half length second to the Eric
Musgrove trained City of Gold in the 2600 metre division one of the hurdle. The Colin
Stewart trained Benyang was a neck away in third place. The unplaced brigade included the
Tony McEvoy trained Mascagni.
In the following trial the Irish bred galloper Family
Favourite looked impressive winning his 2600 metre heat by some four lengths. The Musgrove
trained What a Mess was second over the line a half length clear of the Barry Burgess
trained Pitt Boss Kiss. Lance Corporal fell late in the trial was escaped unscatched.

Then came: Famous Pirate, Boxter Blue, Tassie's Shout. Lance Corporal fell. Margins: 4
lengths x 1/2 length. Time: 2-32.1.
Trial 3 - Hurdle - about 2600m
1st VOODOO SUNSET - Craig Durden for Ron Campbell.
2nd FAIRWAY GAME - Garry Preston for Ken Matson.
3rd SHUTAYR - Pat Kelly for Joe Lockyer.
Then came: Crown Duo, The Hind. Margins: Nose x 3/4 length. Time: 2-30.9.
Trial 4 - Steeplechase - about 2800m
1st NAUTILISM - Craig Durden for Lee Freedman.
2nd DELEGATE - P Fahy for Barry Brook.
3rd SHAMROCK DANCER - Grant Young for Karen Byrnes.
Then came: Big Bonus. Midnight Smoker pulled up. Real Zeal scratched. Margins: 10 lengths
