Last year Alan Bailey sent Point Danger to Oakbank
with the hopes of winning the listed Clipsal Stakes over 1100 metres. He duly won the race
in great style. Twelve months down the track Bailey
is again looking at capturing the $60,000 listed race at the famous hills track, but this
time he's getting more serious about defending the crown.
Not only is Point Danger nominated to return to the track
in which he boosted his reputation, but Bailey has thrown in two highly credentialled
stablemates in the same race.
A decision has yet to be made whether all three, or which
of them are confirmed runners for the race, however if Bailey does decided to send all
three he has a great chance of taking away his first stakes race trifecta.
As well as Point Danger, who finished only a long neck from
the winner Rubitano in the recent Newmarket Handicap at Flemington, the stable has entered
the high class performers Suzy Grey and Libidinious.
The $60,000 Clipsal Stakes has attracted a classy field
including last start Flemington stakes winner Suit and the iron horse Manetti. Others of
interest among the current field include Bush Outlaw, Noble Win, Stand by Me, Comedy
Court, Flurry's Gem and the Joe Hall trained Wisp.
