Former star
galloper Paint missed a place in his racetrack return in the IGA Ninja Handicap (1000m) at
Sandown this afternoon. Trained by Mathew Ellerton,
Paint was having his first start since going amiss after finishing second behind the
record breaking Bush Outlaw in January 2001.
At the end of today's race Paint had managed to only beat
two runners home in the field if nine.
Paint is has won nine of his 49 starts and has been a minor
placegetter on 16 other occasions. He has earned connections $1.45 million.
The result was much rosier for the connections of the
Desert Sun gelding Noble Sun who won the race by a length.
Vidual was second home, a half neck in front of the Steven
King mount Ming's Finale.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the Encosta de Lago youngster
Lashed has ended a frustrating drought for Myles Plumb when he won the March Handicap over
1300 metres.
The Plumb stable had not had a city winner since September
when Native Jazz won the Group Two Craiglee Stakes with the handy stayer Native Jazz. |
