Adelaide jockey Paul Gatt, who rode Straight Ace to a third placing in the
Group One Oakleign Plate recently, will fly to Sydney on Saturday to partner the classy
mare Suzy Grey in the Group One Coolmore Classic. A last start winner of the Group Two Swettenham Stud Stakes in Adelaide, Suzy
Grey is on the hunt for further black type as well as a firm surface in Sydney.
Trainer Alan Bailey had the filly nominated in both Sydney
and Melbourne on the weekend but is looking toward the more northern centre and a clash
with the champion Sunline.
"She deserves her chance at Group One level and I'm just
hoping the weather stays okay and the track remains in good shape," Bailey said on
Sport 927 this morning.
"Obviously with what she has achieved so far
she has turned out to be a valuable little horse. And if she happened to place on Saturday
it would further enhance her value," he added.
Gatt, who is currently second on the Adelaide premiership
behind Travis Creek, will be giving up a big book of rides in his home state as he hunts
the Coolmore Classic on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sunline is in great shape according to co-trainer
Steve McKee as she prepares for the 1500 metre event.
"She travelled over and is in great shape. Everything is
looking good for Saturday," McKee said of the champion mare.
