Star filly Abbadeena
confirmed her status as Tasmania's best three-year-old filly when she got back into the
winner's circle in this afternoon's $100,950 Carlton Draught Tasmanian Oaks at Launceston. Abbadena was gunning for four straight wins when she suffered a
shock defeat in the in the listed Strutt Stakes at Hobart on February 9.
But back to her best today the Blacker trained filly proved
her class in scoring a length win in the rich listed event.
A daughter of Runyon, Abbadena defeated the second
favourite Marette by three quarters of a length. Silver Laser was a further half length
away in third place.
Meanwhile, earlier in the afternoon Victorian jockey Luke
Currie made a dynamic start to Launceston Cup day by winning the first and second races
with Lunar Tiara and No Remittance respectively.
Danehill's son Ladoni also kicked away the day with a
double from the first four races.
The Launceston Cup will be run later this afternoon. |
