The might of Godolphin and
the riding brilliance of Frankie Dettori was a little too much for Australian trainer John
Sadler in last night's feature race in Dubai, the G3 HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al
Maktoum Challenge Round II at Nad al Sheba. Top
class international performer Best of the Bests was too classy and scored a comprehensive
three and a quarter length win in the 1800 metre event on dirt.
The Sadler trained Royal Tryst, with Craig Williams up, was
second home, five lengths clear of State Shinto.
Both the second and third horses are owned by Sheikh Maktoum
bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The success for trainer Saeed bin Suroor and jockey Frankie
Dettori was their second for the evening. The two had teamed up to win the first race with
Joyous Gift.
Sadler quickly bounced back to the winner's stall when his
galloper Afghan won the following race, also on the dirt although it was over 2000 metres.
It was two in a row for Afghan as Ted Durcan guided the
galloper to an easy three and a half length win.
Royal Tryst and Afghan were the only two runners at the
meeting for Sadler, who easily has the best strike rate of trainers in the United Arab
Emirates. |
