Top Melbourne jockey Nash Rawiller was in sparkling
form at Mornington today with a winning treble putting him in great shape for a big
weekend. The first success for the heavyweight
hoop came with Demus filly Demious in the Maiden Plate over 1500 metres. Despite starting
at $8, she scored an easy one and a half length win.
Rawiller then powered home at the end of the day by taking
the final two races with Regas and Serene Pet.
Regas, a member of the Brendan McCarthy stable, started
favourite and scrambled home in a great three way finish to down Very Adamant and Tineke.
The Len Treloar trained galloper Serene Pet then brought up
the Rawiller treble when the daughter of Snippets scored a soft win over Rare Result and
Beltrice.
Other winners were ridden by Malcolm Pay, Jade da Rose, Peter
Mertens, Reece Wheeler and Dale Smith.
Rawiller will be hoping today's great form will carry through
to the city meeting at Moonee Valley tomorrow afternoon.
He will be riding Grange Hill for the in form Caulfield based
trainer James Riley in the 1600 metre race for fillies and mares.
