The Gai Waterhouse trained
two-year-old Snowland indicated he was still on track for the Golden Slipper with a strong
win in this afternoon's Gosford 2YO Slipper (1100m). Snowland
was having his first start since being beaten as a warm favourite on a hot day in the
Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast on January 12.
The Snippets colt jumped out of the barriers well and held
a forward place just behind Snippety Lass before bursting to the front and holding on for
a half length win.
The Rod Quinn mount Takas came home strongly seemingly
enjoying the quick speed in the early and middle stages, while 13/2 chance Kidman also
came home nicely for third a further long neck away.
Starting favourite at 2/1 Snowland was ridden by regular
race rider Chris Munce in today's feature event in New South Wales.
25/1 chance Air of Grace was a late scratching at the
barrier thus bringing the size of the field back to nine. Chatelaine was an earlier
scratching. |
