Jockey John Egan has been
handed a lengthy suspension by Hong Kong Stewards after an adjourned inquiry found him
guilty of "improper practice." Egan
will ride at tomorrow night's Happy Valley meeting before beginning a two month
suspension.
Stewards first quizzed Egan following his ride on Jade Ruyi
at Happy Valley on Wednesday January 9, a run which was deemed as
"disappointing."
Further evidence was taken from Egan and the trainer of Jade
Juyi (Mr L Ho) at the following Hong Kong meeting three days later before it was again
adjourned.
Egan was found guilty with "improper practice under Rule
151(7) in that the evidence he provided to the inquiry at Sha Tin on Saturday 12 January
2002 was not in accordance with the facts and was calculated to mislead the
Stewards."
The rider will be free to ride next on April 1. |
