Brilliant Queensland jockey
Jim Byrne has followed up his initial race meeting success in Macau with four winners at
today's meeting in Macau. Byrne, who is basing
himself with Australian trainer Barry Baldwin for a trial in Macau, was in sensational
form at today's 12 event program.
It was a dynamic start for Byrne when he guided home the
aptly named Very Good Indeed for an easy two and half length win in the Stranrae Handicap
over 1800 metres. Fellow Aussie Sam Hyland could manage to only finish third behind his
fellow ex-pat.
There wasn't long to wait for winner number two when Byrne
and Lava made a one act affair of the Stenhausmuir Handicap. The pairing cruised home to
win untrouble by four lengths in a 1200 metre event.
The third success for Byrne came in race eight - the East
Fife Handicap - when Easy Punch knocked out his opponents with a three quarter length
success. Danny Brereton was the main victim, finishing second and wondering what could be
done to stop the Byrne run.
After two second placings in races ten and eleven - Byrne
would return to the winner's circle when he booted home Jazz Star to a three length win in
the last. Danny Brereton finished third in the same race.
Meanwhile, former smart Australia Group winner Spargo was
also in the winner's stall. Spargo beat home the Byrne mount Electronic Magic by a length
over 1000 metres in race ten. |
