Despite connections being
forced to change his name, Recruiting (late Recruit) has extended his unbeaten run to
three. The gelding, who is by the former Collingrove
Stud based shuttle stallion Celtic Swing, is trained by Bede Murray, who is the trainer of
the Collingrove bred Group One star Universal Prince.
Recruiting made it three from three by making the
successful transition from the provincials to the city tracks, with his easy win at
Canterbury last week.
The gelding caused a big impression at his first outing
when he scored in sensational style at his home track of Kembla Grange on December 29.
Despite missing the start, the youngster worked his way
through the field and then careered away for an authoritative win.
Proving that win was no fluke Murray sent the gelding to
Moruya where he again thrashed his rivals while given an easy run by race jockey John
Grisedale.
Murray then decided the next step was a city run and
Canterbury on Wednesday looked the perfect stepping stone.
Celtic Swing is currently enjoying a great run with his
two-year-olds in Australia.
British Lion roared to victory in a sizzling all the way
win in the listed Merson Cooper Stakes at Sandown promising the best of the Celtic Swing's
was still to come. |
