Champion Melbourne jockey Damien Oliver, a three
time Scobie Breasley Medal winner for riding excellence, has failed in his bid to over
turn a recent suspension. However, it wasn't
all bad news for the leading rider, after he received a six meeting cut from the ban.
Oliver, who was suspended at Sandown last Wednesday, fronted
the appeals board earlier today.
He will be free to ride at Flemington on February 3, Chester
Manifold Stakes Day.
Already Oliver has ridden some 60 winners, and is on track to
become the first Melbourne jockey to ride 100 metropolitan winners in a season.
