Racing Victoria this
afternoon announced there was no chance of disruptions to the weekend's scheduled race
meetings in Victoria despite earlier threats by unions. Discussions were held today between representatives of Racing Victoria
and the Australian Workers Union.
The two parties will again meet for further discussions on
the issue of Occupational Health and Safety on Tuesday.
There were fears Sunday's race meeting at Flemington could
have been halted if the expected temperature of 36 degress eventuated.
Unions are concerned after years of negotiations concerning
the lack of a "heat stress policy" for racetrack workers in Victoria. |
