Jockey Scott Seamer finally met his match at the Gold Coast today,
something was hotter than him! Hard to believe
I know, but there was one thing hotter than Seamer in Queensland today, and that was the
scorching weather that swamped the Gold Coast.
But Seamer didn't mind the heat as he guided in yet another
feature race win courtesy of Lovely Jubly's win in this afternoon's $821,450 Conrad
Jupiters Magic Millions Classic (1200m).
There's hardly a way you could describe the last six months
for the travelling rider. Perhaps "freakish" could spring to mind.
It's no surprise when Seamer tells you it's been "one
hell of a ride." It's been a rapid rise to the top of Australian riding ranks since
he partnered a then talented young New Zealand filly Ethereal in a Queensland Oaks. Of
course the rest is history and the Scott Seamer honour roll has blossomed rapidly.
Ethereal would go on and take the big cups double in
Melbourne and pave her, trainer Shiela Laxon and Seamer's name into the history books.
Group one glory during the Melbourne Spring Carnival wasn't only
restricted to Ethereal. Another kiwi mare, the Graeme Rogerson trained mare La Bella Dama,
scored an upset all of the way win in the Mackinnon Stakes on Derby day.
With the strong links in New Zealand it was no surprise to
see Seamer fly over the Tasman for the recent Auckland carnival. While riding at Ellerslie
his feature wins including a dashing triumph on Leica Guv in the New Zealand Derby and the
Auckland Cup aboard Maguire.
Seamer warmed up to the Magic Millions today with a winning
treble at the track on Silk Stocking Handicap day on Wednesday.
Oh and a race earlier he was again in winning form by winning
the listed $100,850 AAMI Gold Coast Stakes (1400m) aboard the Gerald Ryan trained Play
Station. |
