Leading jockey Chris Munce has given today's hot favourite for the
Magic Millions 2YO Classic Snowland a huge wrap on the eve of the million dollar dash here
on the Gold Coast. Munce told Cyberhorse that
Snowland was "as good as two-year-old" he had ridden in a distinguished career.
The Sydney based hoop likened the Gai Waterhouse trained
youngster to the former top liner Brave Warrior, whom we was the regular rider of, but
missed partnering to glory in the Magic Millions.
"At this stage of his career I would compare him with
Brave Warrior. Both were excellent juveniles," Munce said.
Munce will be hoping today's Magic Millions meeting doesn't
mirror what happened when he was set to partner Brave Warrior, a horse part owned by his
wife.
"Sadly I missed riding him in the Magic Millions race
because I had a fall and was injured just two races earlier," he recalled.
Munce feels the greatest opposition for the race could come
from another Waterhouse runner or a Melbourne visitor.
"Chuckle looked good winning the other day and he could
be the one to beat, while the Melbourne horse Blur was impressive in Sydney," Munce
said yesterday.
Munce and Waterhouse have an
undeniable chance of winning the race for the second successive year after combining to
win twelve months ago with the previously unbeaten Excellerator.
Waterhouse as expected wasn't willing to dismiss any of her
runners as not having a winning chance.
"All four of them have settled in well and all have a
great chance of winning," Waterhouse said.
When pressed the in form trainer gave her selections (as
expected) in the order of betting.
"Snowland marginally ahead of Chuckle, while Sunday Joy
and Obsession should be right in the finish as well," she added.
Snowland will start the favourite in today's $1 million race
over 1200 metres on the Gold Coast. |
