Adelaide jockey Dwayne Dunn and former crack jockey
turn trainer Geoff Lane were both winners at the latest Hong Kong meeting on Saturday
night. Dunn cemented his place at sixth on the
jockey's premiership by guiding the Yiu trained Millennium Spirit to a win in the Gage
Handicap over 2000 metres.
The multiple premiership winner has now ridden 16 winners and
29 minor placings this season.
Douglas Whyte retains his place at the top of the table with
32 winners, six more than his nearest rival Felix Coetzee. The latter snuck closer after
the win of Wonderful Life in race six.
Fellow Australian jockeys Shane Dye and Steven King are also
both in the top ten. Dye is in third place with 22 wins and 38 minor placings, while King
is tenth with 12 wins and 14 placings.
Meanwhile, in the training ranks and Geoff Lane made a bright
start to the new year thanks to Best for All who won the D'Aguilar Handicap over 1200
metres.
Among the other winners on the ten race card were Holy Quest
(Suborics for Allan), Chuk Way (Basil Marcus), Choice and Chance and Unbreakable (Legrix),
Dashing Winner (Doleuze), Jeune King Prawn (Marwing) and Jokers Wild (Fradd). |
