Craig Carmody has continued the run of success of
Australasian jockeys in overseas locations when he had a winning double in Singapore on
Friday night. It was a great start to the
program for the former Sydney hoop when he steered Gold Dragon to win the first race, an
Open Benchmark over 1400 metres.
At the finish Carmody's mount had a one and three quarter
length break over the second placegetter. Fellow Aussie Eddie Wilkinson finished third.
Carmody's double was completed when Victory Commander swept
to a one and half length win in the first division of the Class 4 Handicap over 1200
metres.
Another winner of the eight race card was New Zealand female
hoop Lisa Mumby. Her win came thanks to Ozone in the sixth race.
It wasn't only the kiwi jockeys that were among the winners.
The former New Zealand galloper Komplete Kaos scored an impressive win in the seventh
race.
Further Australian success continued in nearby Perak, which
held race meetings on Saturday and Sunday.
Gary Skinner had a winning double at the Saturday meeting
thanks to Lion Mountain in race one and Cerezas in race three. Both were comprehensive
maiden winners.
On the following afternoon Tony Cavallo got that winning
feeling in the first race when he rode Circle of Life to a one length win in the Class 4
Handicap over 1400 metres.
