Australia's most consistent and best value stallion Scenic is
chasing international glory after the win of his talented son Scenic Peak in the rich
Glasshouse Handicap at Calounda last weekend. Scenic
Peak made the 1400 metre stakes event a one act affair as he strode clear of his classy
rivals for a breath taking win.
The gelding's trainer Danny Bougoure has indicated he will
aim Scenic Peak at international glory at the rich Hong Kong International Raceday at Sha
Tin. Bougoure knows what it takes to win there, considering another member of his team
Falvelon has won the past two International Sprints.
The ongoing rise of Scenic Peak is just yet another example
of the top class galloper continually unearthed by Sadler's Wells Group One winning son.
In the past his stars on the track have included the Group
One winners Universal Prince, Piavonic, Episode, Blevic, Shame, Lochrae and the evergreen
Lord Essex.
With a winners to runners percentage of over 73, it's no wonder
breeders from around Australia continually look to the Dewhurst Stakes winner.
Over the past three seasons Scenic has ranked in the top
six leading sires in Australasia, last season he finished second only to Danehill who
stood at over ten times his service.
This season alone Scenic's progeny have earned over $4
million and he's again cemented his place in the top five alongside Danehill and Zabeel.
He's been represented by 73 winners and six stakes winners including triumphant Group One
runners Piavonic, Universal Prince and Lord Essex. Majestic Avenue went within a couple of
inches to making it four Group One winners for the season.
Scenic will be standing the 2002 breeding season for
$22,000 (inc GST) at Collingrove Victoria.
