One of South Australia's
race sons of Danehill at stud will have his first major test when five of his fillies line
up in the one race in Adelaide tomorrow. The group of
juveniles by the Oakside Park Stud based Akhadan will clash in a big field in the Rustic
Amber at High Lane Stud Handicap at Victoria Park.
Cherry Belle (ex Candy Belle), Keetah's Lady (Our Dear
Lady), Nadella (Confederate Belle), Sister Ak (Sister Margaret) and This Little Pig (Miss
Piggy) will all be making their debuts tomorrow.
Oakside's Trevor Harrington will be hoping atleast one of
the group can show above average ability like the young sire's exciting juvenile Rachael's
Pride. She was placed in both the Adelaide and Perth Magic Millions Classics earlier this
year.
Akhadan, a winner of 1200 metres and a Flemington
placegetter, is out of the beautifully bred Bletchingly mare Wild West Lass. She is a
sister to the Champion 3YO Best Western and is closely related to stakes winners including
Strawberry Fair.
As well as Rachael's Pride, who carries the familiar
colours of Port Lincoln tuna fisherman Tony Santic (of Smytzer fame), Akhadan is also the
sire of this season's impressive performers including Miss Zutphen and Kooda Polo. The
current two-year-old crop is Akhadan's first since retiring to stud in 1998. |
