Chief Bearhart, who's
preparing to shuttle to New Zealand's Glenmorgan Farm, will be inducted into the Canadian
Racing Hall of Fame in August. The dual Horse of the
Year and promising young stallion prospect was one of four racing figures to be chosen for
the honour.
The others are Magna Entertainment chairman Frank Stronach,
former brilliant jockey Ted Atkinson and leading trainer Macdonald Benson.
Chief Bearhart, a son of Chief's Crown, retired in 1998 as
the second richest racecourse earner in Canadian history.
A multiple Group One winner he won 12 of his 26 starts, and
only failed to earn a cheque on six occasions.
The induction ceremony for all four will take place on the
vening of August 29. |
