Lion Hunter, who was one of
Danehill's fastest ever sons to race, is racing away with the Champion First Season Sire
award as the racing season winds down. Lovely
Jubly has been the major driving force behind the stallion's sizzling start at stud. But
this Queensland based sire hasn't been a one hit wonder at season number one.
Eleven of his 23 runners have won, while a further nine have
been placed on at least one occasion. That means only three of his runners to date have
missed a place - no doubt a set of statistics any stallion would be proud of.
Aside from the Magic Millions star Lovely Jubly, Lion Hunter
is also the sire of another black type juvenile from this season Bullala, from the Paul
Sutherland stable.
Other winners for the Oaklands Stud based stallion have been
Roar Talent, Lion Dancer, Lion Pride, Lion Safari, African Queen, Billy Jarrah, Wimaway,
Poachers Luck and Hucktooie.
Lion Hunter has been serving huge books of mares since
retiring to stud in Queensland and he was vritually booked out in January as Lovely Jubly
galloper to victory on the Gold Coast. |
