The dispersal of Bill
Duthy's Sharondon Park Stud in South Australia during yesterday's first session of the
Australian Broodmare Sale in Sydney has proved fruitful when he provided two of the top
four sales for the day. Sharondon's first offering,
the American winning Unbridled mare Unbridled Victory, was sold for a healthy $360,000.
The mare, who is in foal to the mighty Grand Lodge was snapped up by the powerful
international breeding arm of Swettenham Stud.
Three lots later the Sydney winning Rory's Jester mare
Excitant was knocked down for $160,000. That mare will return to the Adelaide Hills region
after she was bought by Toorak Park Stud, the establishment headed by Harry Perks.
The final offering from Duthy's dispersal was the dual
winning Fappiano mare Veronical. At stud she's been a star. Her first to the track was
Miss Peridot, a dual Sydney winner, while her second was the Group winning and Group One
wunner-up Lan Kwai Fong. The mare, who's in foal to the brilliant Octagonal, was picked up
by Freyer Bloodstock for $500,000.
Veronical, who was catalogued as lot number 147, is a half
sister to dual American stakes winner Up An Eighth. They are both out of the stakes race
runner up half sister to Group One winner Broad Brush.
The Australian Broodmare Sale is continuing at the William
Inglis Newmarket complex at Randwick. The sale concludes tomorrow. |
