Internationally acclaimed
broodmare Balletomane is set for a future in Europe after she was sold for a current
topping price of $750,000 at the Australian Broodmare Sale in Sydney. Offered as lot 376, the mare, a daughter of the legendary Sadler's
Wells, was knocked down to Melbourne based bloodstock agent Rob Roulston.
Bidding for the bay mare kicked off at $600,000 before
stalling at her sale price of $750,000.
Roulston said the mare would be set for a further
international career after she foals down to the Kentucky Derby champion Fusaichi Pegasus.
"She'll be going back to the Northern
Hemisphere," Roulston said.
"She'll have the Fusaichi Pegasus here, and then head
back to Europe," he added.
Balletomane, a winner at a mile and a half in Great
Britain, is already the dam of the Breeders' Cup winner and three time Group One winner
Silic. Her four runners to date have all been winners.
She is a daughter of the AJC Oaks runner-up Franconia, who
in turn is a half sister to the stakes winning pair of Prudent Miss and Glasshouse.
The mare was offered for sale by leading New South Wales
based stud farm Arrowfield, who were acting as agents. |
