Despite being currently sidelined with injury after a
terrifying fall during a recent stint in Hong Kong, brilliant jockey Scott Seamer
(pictured above with wife Louise after last year's Melbourne Cup) has found another way to
keep his name in the headlines.
Usually in the news for riding home Group One winners
around Australia or New Zealand, on this occasion Seamer is in the headlines after buying
a well bred mare during the second session of the Australian Broodmare Sale in Sydney.
Seamer, who had just witnessed his Magic Millions winner
Lovely Jubly, make a triumphant return to the track at Doomben, forked out $280,000 for
Hill of Peace, a daughter of the Champion Danehill.
And in a strange twist Seamer refused to comment on the
purchase.
Offered by Collingrove Stud the mare who was a winner of
2000 metres at two, is in foal to the Champion Group One performer King's Best. It is the
mare's first season at stud.
Hill of Peace is out of the stakes placed Roberto mare
African Peace. She is a half sister to the French stakes winner Alliteration.
African Peace herself is a well bred mare. Not only is she
by the champion sire Roberto (who's also the sire of Melbourne Cup winner At Talaq), but
she is out of the dual Group Two winner Galla Placidia. |
