Champion European galloper Galileo will be standing at
Coolmore's Australian base in the Hunter Valley this season.
Coolmore made the announcement that the unbeaten
two-year-old and champion three-year-old would be shuttling to Australia earlier this
        week.
During his record breaking season as a three-year-old
Galileo was close to faultless, leaving the experts struggling for words.
"One of the best I have seen in 40 years in
racing.......capable of winning a July Cup......that type of horse......you could not hope
for better," Geoffrey Gibbs, the Senior Handicapper said.
Sir Peter O'Sullevan you would think would know his horses,
after all he's called more Derbies than anyone who is still with us. "(Galileo is) on
a par with legends liks Sea Bird, Sir Ivor and the great Nijinsky."
Champion European jockey Lester Piggott was even comparing
Galileo to the mighty Nijinsky. "You would have to rate him up there with anything.
He's an armchair ride, does everything so easily. All you can say is that he's one of the
        great ones."
Fellow leadoing jockey Michael Kinane, someone who's ridden
more champions than mosdt jockeys get city winners, was also glowing in his praises for
Galileo. "He has speed and stamina in abundance. It's very rare you ride a horse with
the extra gears he has, and the quicker they go the better he is."
A champion racehorse with great conformation, his pedigree is nothing short of sensational. He's by
Sadler's Wells, the world's best sire and now a leading sire of sires. Galileo is a full
brother to the 2002 Classic contender Black Sam Bellamy. His dam, the "Arc"
winning Miswaki mare Urban Sea, has also produced the Epsom and Irish Oaks-placed Melikah
and the Group winner Urban Ocean. Urban Sea is a half sister to the 2000 Guineas winner
King's Best and to the dams of French Derby hero Anabaa Blue and the Champion Sprinter
        Tertullian.
Galileo will be standing his first Australian season in
2002 for a service fee of $55,000 (inc GST - free return). See his catalogue style
        pedigree here.
