Barry Burke has won a bidding war with Melbourne based bloodstock buyer Troy Corstens to
snare a With Class colt during the latter stages of today's Inglis Autumn Yearling Sale at
Oaklands. The colt was the ninth foal of the winning
Solitary Hail mare Good Lassie, who is a sister to Gyspy Alert and half sister to With Me.
A winner of the Oakleigh Plate, With Me is also the dam of Group One winner Accomplice.
Bidding for the colt kicked off at $5,000 before a swift
bid of $30,000 was received. Burke and Corstens, who is the man behind Newmarc
Thoroughbreds, traded bids until Burke placed the final offering of $46,000.
With Class, the sire of recent Melbourne city winners Lady
Sophie and Deputy Head, is enjoying a great run with his first runners on the track this
        season.
Earlier this afternoon another colt by With Class was
knocked down for the sale topping price of $60,000. That colt, from the Family Ties mare
Constant Pressure, was offered by Sanctuary Lodge. The colt snapped up by Barry Burke was
offered by Elmore based Bon Accord.
With Class is an unraced half brother to the Group One
winning champion Dance Smartly. He is a son of the Canadian Oaks winner Classy 'n Smart. |
