The second foal of the Group winning Royal Academy mare
Piccadilly Circus has made the early running for the final day of the Australian Easter
Yearling Sale.
Offered by Coolmore Australia the colt is a full brother to
the recent stakes placed two-year-old Cirque du Soliel, who will be running in the $75,000
listed Keith Mackay Handicap at Randwick.
Bidding for the attractive colt kicked off at $100,000 and
quickly jumped in $100,000 amounts until the price reached $600,000. Bids of $50,000 then
advanced his value to $800,000. Two final $25,000 offerings left the colt's final price at
$850,000.
Irish based bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne placed the final
bid edging out New South Wales based agent Anton Koolman.
A winner of the Blue Diamond Prelude and Debutante Stakes in
her first preparation, Piccadilly Circus is a daughter of the stakes winning Marauding
mare Gatana (she ran second in a Newmarket Handicap in Melbourne).
