The powerful Darley operation has kicked off the Australian Easter Yearling
Sale in Sydney in great style when they snapped up Pure Theatre's half sister by Zabeel
for $425,000. Bidding for the attractive bay
filly kicked off at $200,000 and then rose in $25,000 increments before being knocked down
by auctioneer Reg Inglis to John Ferguson for $425,000.
Lot eight, as she was catalogued, was offered by The Oaks
Stud, based on the outskirts of Cambridge in New Zealand.
The filly is out of the Oaks winning Broad Brush mare A
Goodlookin Broad, who's only runner on the track to date is Pure Theatre.
Pure Theatre won last year's Carlton Draught Caulfield
Guineas Prelude in Melbourne before running third in the Group One Guineas later that
month. Earlier this year he ran a close fourth in the Group One Railway Handicap at
Ellerslie in New Zealand.
