Young Victorian based
stallion With Class received another early boost to his breeding career when Deputy Head
scored a boilover by winning this afternoon's Schweppes Mixers Maiden Plate (1300m) at
Geelong. Prepared at Flemington by Mathew Ellerton,
Deputy Head was having only his second start today and rewarded connections with his win
at $51.
With Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, Deputy Head, who is from
the Twig Moss mare Wassail.
The smart Tasmanian juvenile Highclere kicked away With
Class' winning account in December when that colt scored an easy two length win at Hobart.
From just seven runners to date all of With Class' runners
have earned connections prizemoney except one. Stowaway Lass for Tony McEvoy and Yukon
Star for Gerald Ryan have shown great ability in strong class races and should be in the
winner's stall soon.
With Class is one of the best bred stallions in Victoria.
He is an unraced son of the might Canadian Horse of the Year Deputy Minister. That
stallion is now making a name for himself as a sire of sires with the likes of Silver
Deputy, Salt Lake, Dehere and Mane Minister.
His dam Classy 'n Smart was perfectly named. She was
crowned the Champion 3YO in Canada after a great win in the Canadian Oaks. She is a half
sister to the champions Sky Classic, Regal Classic and Grey Classic and fellow G1 winners
Classy Reign and Always a Classic.
Classy 'n Smart has followed in the footsteps of her dam No
Class by developing into a wonderful producing mare. She is the dam of the Canadian Horse
of the Year, the champion Dance Smartly and the Group One winner Smart Strike.
With a family which is renowned for producing Champions and
Group One performers at will, there's little surprise the early form of With Class'
progeny has been impressive. |
