 Recent Group One Auckland Cup winner Maguire is
another success story for Collingrove Stud.Maguire,
a Casual Lies gelding is out of the Ahonoora mare Dragon Pearl, a mare bred by the
Sangster's Swettenham Stud.
It was a great start to the new year for young Cranbourne
based trained John Collins who saddled up Maguire to a fighting win in the $350,000
feature race.
The gelding looked set to capture the Auckland and
Wellington Cups double after a slashing fifth on Saturday.
However, Collins said after the race that Maguire had
sprung a plate during the race and although there was "no major problem" he
would not run in the second big two miler in New Zealand.
Maguire is currently the winner of eight races and has
earned his New Zealand based owners just a tick under $500,000.
